KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday took their May 12 rally venue feud to Twitter.
PPP and PTI earlier announced that they will hold a public rally on May 12 at Hakeem Saeed Ground in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi.
PPP Senator Saeed Ghani tweeted that the PTI had earlier announced their rally venue to be Quaid-e-Azam’s Mausolem.
The Senator claimed that PPP had already written to the district commissioner, seeking permission to hold a rally at Hakeem Saeed Ground.
Ghani in his tweet said that PTI/MQM hidden alliance knows for a fact that PPP will have a huge jalsa on May 12, whereas PTI won’t be able to gather attendees for their show.
He added that PTI/MQM are planning to sabotage PPP’s jalsa, “which would not be possible”.
In response, PTI’s Khurram Sher Zaman said that PTI will hold its rally at Hakeem Saeed Ground on the announced date “no matter what”. Zaman also accused the PPP of using its influence and force to repress political activities.
On May 4, former President Asid Ali Zardari had said that PPP/PTI alliance had been temporary, but if needed, an alliance may be formed after the upcoming general elections.
