ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif said that those who should be punished continue to be acquitted while others face court hearings.
During a conversation with the media outside accountability court, remarked about Imran Khan’s acquisition in SSP Asmatullah Junejo attack case, stating that Khan neither appeared before the courts nor he went through the accountability process.
Sharif said that “I was not even allowed to visit my ailing wife during this period of court hearings.”
Former PM ironically said that he had no hopes for transparency in upcoming general elections.
Responding to a journalist’s question about Imran Khan’s acquisition, Maryam Nawaz remarked that “this should have been ordered from higher authorities”.
The PTI chief and other party leaders were accused of attacking the Parliament and PTV office during the 2014 sit-in in Islamabad. The accused were also alleged for torturing the then-SSP operations and violating the Loudspeakers Act 1965.
