LAHORE: Former Sindh Chief Minister Mumtaz Bhutto’s party Sindh National Front (SNF) merged with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday.
SNF Vice Chairman Ameer Bux Bhutto signed the merger accord with PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, following which Qureshi, speaking to the media, said that both parties had been discussing the merger over the past few months.
“Imran Khan has been welcomed by the youth of Sindh with great courage,” Qureshi said. “This merger indicates that SNF too accepts the ideology of PTI,” he added.
Qureshi also hinted towards further mergers that his party was looking forward to by the end of November.
Speaking on the occasion, Ameer Bux Bhutto said that the people of Sindh had always looked towards the Bhutto family to fill in the political void that had been present in Sindh but ever since Benazir Bhutto’s death, the void had not been filled. He further added that the people of Sindh were hopeful that PTI would bring change in the country.
Referring to the recent ‘merger and split’ of Muttahida Qoami Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P) and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP), Qureshi said that SNF’s merger into PTI would provide a suitable alternative to the people of Karachi.
