QUETTA: A coalmine collapsed in Balochistan’s Harnai district on Thursday night following which bodies of six miners have been recovered since yesterday.
Chief Inspector Mines Iftikhar Ahmed said that efforts to rescue the remaining two miners trapped inside are in progress. An investigation into the incident has also been ordered.
Ahmed said that a landslide occurred at two spots at the Sharig Coal Mine in Harnai on Thursday night. As a result of this, two miners were trapped inside. Six other miners then got trapped themselves when they proceeded to rescue their colleagues.
Rescue staff said that there is very little possibility the miners are still alive or breathing.
The body of one miner was recovered on Friday while another was rescued in a severely injured state.
Last month, according to media reports three coal miners were killed after accumulation of a poisonous gas inside a coal mine in Balochistan’s Harnai.
